Join Nickel Brook Brewing and Ren Navarro for an enlightening conversation on diversity, representation, and inclusion in the Canadian beer industry.
Canada's beer scene is predominantly comprised of young white men, and isn't very approachable to anyone who falls outside of that category.
Ren believes that the industry should be more welcoming to women, people of colour, and individuals from all walks of life. Including more perspectives, backgrounds, and voices will make the industry stronger, and more reflective of the consumers it serves.
Ren will discuss how we can initiate change in the industry and amongst consumers.... one beer at a time!
At this event we'll also be releasing our exclusive collab brew with Ren! Your ticket includes a pint of this delicious barrel-aged red sour, brewed with Sorrel Flower.
Who is Ren?
Alongside her fervent love of the craft beer world is her determination to bring it to a more diverse audience. An outspoken critic of the old notion that beer is a drink primarily for white dudes, Navarro is on the frontlines to initiate change both in and out of the industry.
Of note she is co-founder of the famous Society of Beer Drinking Ladies, a Toronto-based monthly beer event that provides a safe and relaxing atmosphere for female-identified people.
Additionally, using her perspective as a queer black woman within the industry, she has talked extensively about diversity in craft beer as a regular speaker at the annual Queen of Craft events in Guelph along with constant appearances in various forms of media, from podcasts, television and radio shows to newspapers.
