Beef Beer Stew

Ingredients

 

1 1/2 to 2 lbs. Stewing Beef

2 tbsp vegetable Oil

2 Bottles Beer (bitter)

1/2 cup water (optional)

3 or 4 medium potatoes (cut to 1/2” squares)

3 or 4 medium carrots ( cut to 1/2” squares)

3 or 4 onions diced

3 or 4 stalks celery (cut to 1/2” pieces)

1/4 small turnip (cut to 1/2” pieces)

1/2 cup can (28 oz) Herbs and Spices Tomatoes

1/2 tsp. Garlic

1 tsp Basil

1/2 tsp Mixed Spices (Mrs Dash regular)

1/2 tsp. Each salt & pepper

2 Bay leaves (remove before serving)

Instructions

 

1. In a deep pan or pot, add oil, meat & spices. Braise stewing beef until brown.

2. Add 1 bottle beer, cook for 1/2 to 1 hour or until beef is tender.

3. Add water ( or beer) to moisten, as required.

4. Add second bottle beer & vegetables. Cook until tender or to taste.

 

 

(Serves 6-7 people with French  Bread, also excellent with dumplings)
